Fathers fulfill a unique and critical role in the social and emotional development of their children. Recent research, as well as personal reports from children and young adults, confirms the importance of a father or father figure for one's life journey to become complete. This article infuses research findings and personal testimonies from young men who have reflected upon the importance of and their need for a father. Implications for schools and society are also discussed.
