Racism is one of the most frustrating, insidious problems facing our society. Not all racism is overt; it is often present in attitudes and unconscious behaviors, which are more subtle and difficult to address. But it is still possible to change prejudices among different ethnic groups. Often, the best way to do this is to promote interaction on a personal level. In this article, we focus on two organizations-the Latin American Youth Center and the Asian Pacific Development Center-that have a number of programs that foster relationships among youth and families of various races and cultures and help families adjust to U. S. culture.
