Students with gender identity disorder display behaviors more commonly associated with the opposite gender. In order to provide appropriate services for these youngsters, school personnel must become knowledgeable about the condition and issues surrounding it. Teachers and administrators must ensure that these youth receive the same psychological and physical protection offered to other students. This article uses a case study to provide information regarding assessment of, and intervention with, youngsters who have gender identity disorder.
