Schools serving students with emotional and behavioral problems can develop adversarial climates that reinforce antisocial behaviors. This article describes one such school where problems of defiance and aggression were met with high levels of seclusion and physical restraints. Centennial School had a comprehensive program of school-wide interventions designed with the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating these aversive management strategies. Data on the effectiveness of these interventions is shared and guidelines for implementation are suggested.
