Andy is a 14-year-old black male who lives with his mother and older sister
in an inner city apartment. His 16-year-old sister is multi-handicapped
and very low functioning, demanding a lot of mother's attention. Andy both
understands and is jealous of the attention his mother gives to his sister. His
father left home when Andy was eight; mother is not in good health and is
often confined to the home. This has resulted in Andy taking on some adult
responsibilities at a very early age. He is very protective of his mother and
sister, although he rarely talks about it. Andy also suffers from asthma and
is on medication for this condition.
