Woodland Hills pioneered residential and community-based treatment programs for adolescents based on the Positive Peer Culture (PPC) treatment model. Students are referred by courts, social agencies, and schools and present a range of emotional and behavioral problems, especially conduct disorders. In recent years, more than 80 % of Woodland Hills students also have presented a history of alcohol and drug abuse, and most have previously received some outpatient or inpatient chemical dependency treatment. To better address the needs of this population, Woodland Hills has piloted a substance abuse program that is integrated into the PPC group treatment model.
